Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®

Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® is a holistic healing practice rooted in the traditional medicine of the Maya people of Central America. It was brought to wider awareness by Rosita Arvigo, who apprenticed for over a decade with renowned Belizean healer Don Elijio Panti. Through this lineage, the practice carries forward generations of indigenous knowledge centered on the belief that proper alignment and flow within the abdomen are essential to overall health.

At its foundation, this therapy uses gentle, external abdominal massage to support the optimal positioning of the uterus and other abdominal organs. When these organs are aligned, the body’s natural circulation of blood, lymph, nerve impulses, and vital energy can move freely. When misaligned, this flow may become restricted, contributing to a wide range of reproductive, digestive, and systemic imbalances.

What sets this practice apart from conventional abdominal massage is its holistic and integrative approach. Rather than focusing solely on muscle tension or relaxation, Arvigo therapy addresses the structural, energetic, and functional relationships within the abdomen. It is not only a hands-on treatment but also an educational system, empowering clients with self-care techniques they can practice at home to maintain alignment and support long-term healing.

Abdominal Therapy Plus for Professionals

As a practitioner trained in Advanced Abdominal Therapy Plus (ATP+), this work builds upon the foundational teachings of Dr. Rosita Arvigo while deepening the understanding of the abdominal and pelvic structures that support overall health and wellbeing. This advanced approach emphasizes thoughtful assessment, skilled touch, and individualized care to support structural balance, organ health, and nervous system regulation.

At its foundation, this training incorporates advanced assessment and soft tissue rehabilitative techniques focused on the sternum, sacrum, coccyx, sacral ligaments, and the abdominal and pelvic organs. Through gentle, intentional bodywork and side-lying techniques, it supports healthy circulation, homeostasis, alignment, and the release of tension and congestion that may contribute to discomfort, imbalance, or restricted mobility.

What sets this approach apart is its deeper integration of structural assessment and therapeutic planning into abdominal therapy care. Special attention is given to the impact of surgeries, adhesions, and postural patterns on the body’s internal and external alignment. Treatment is guided by each client’s unique health story, goals, and physical presentation, creating a personalized and restorative experience that supports both functional wellness and long-term healing.

Mercier Therapy

The Mercier Therapy approach is a specialized modality focused on supporting fertility and pelvic health through targeted, evidence-informed techniques. Developed by Dr. Jennifer Mercier, this therapy is grounded in an understanding of pelvic anatomy and physiology, with an emphasis on optimizing the function of the reproductive organs to support natural conception and overall wellness.

At its foundation, this therapy uses precise, gentle manipulation of the pelvic organs and surrounding structures to improve mobility, circulation, and communication within the reproductive system. By addressing restrictions and congestion in the pelvic region, Mercier Therapy helps enhance blood flow, reduce inflammation, and support the body’s natural reproductive processes.

What sets this approach apart from conventional fertility treatments is its focus on restoring optimal function through hands-on care rather than relying solely on medical intervention. It works in conjunction with other fertility treatments or as a standalone support, while also incorporating education and awareness to help clients better understand and care for their reproductive health.

Abdominal Therapy for Professionals: Pregnancy through Postpartum

Abdominal Therapy for Professionals: Pregnancy through Postpartum is a specialized training focused on supporting the body through the physical transitions of pregnancy, birth, and recovery. This approach integrates clinical knowledge of anatomy and physiology with hands-on techniques designed to address the unique needs of the prenatal and postpartum body.

At its foundation, this therapy uses gentle, targeted abdominal and pelvic techniques to support optimal positioning, circulation, and function of the reproductive organs during and after pregnancy. By addressing strain on the muscles, ligaments, and organs, it helps improve blood and lymph flow, reduce discomfort, and promote more efficient healing and recovery.

What sets this approach apart is its focus on continuity of care from pregnancy through postpartum, recognizing the long-term impact of these stages on overall health. It combines hands-on treatment with education and self-care practices, empowering clients to support their bodies through recovery and maintain lasting pelvic and abdominal health.

Trauma-Informed, Licensed Massage Therapist

As a Trauma-Informed, Licensed Massage Therapist, this approach is rooted in both clinical training and a deep understanding of how the body holds and processes stress, tension, and past experiences. It emphasizes safety, consent, and nervous system awareness, creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel supported, respected, and in control of their care.

At its foundation, this work uses skilled, intentional touch tailored to each individual, with careful attention to communication, pacing, and client feedback. By supporting regulation of the nervous system and reducing physical tension, it helps the body shift out of patterns of stress and into a state more conducive to healing and restoration.

What sets this approach apart is its integration of trauma-informed principles into every aspect of care, ensuring that treatment is both clinically effective and emotionally attuned. It combines hands-on therapy with education and client empowerment, allowing individuals to reconnect with their bodies in a safe and sustainable way.

Certified Infant Massage Therapist-Instructor

As a Certified Infant Massage Therapist-Instructor, this work focuses on supporting early development and connection through nurturing, intentional touch. Rooted in established infant massage education, it emphasizes the importance of bonding, communication, and gentle, responsive care between parent and child.

At its foundation, this approach teaches parents and caregivers simple, effective massage techniques designed to support digestion, improve sleep, and promote overall comfort and regulation in infants. Through guided instruction, families learn how to read their baby’s cues, build confidence in their touch, and create meaningful moments of connection.

What sets this role apart is its focus on education and empowerment, equipping caregivers with lifelong skills they can use to support their child’s well-being. It blends practical instruction with a nurturing philosophy, fostering attachment, trust, and healthy development from the earliest stages of life.
